BROOKINGS, S.D. – The North Dakota State men's cross country team finished fourth out of 11 teams at the South Dakota State University Classic Friday, Oct. 4, at the Edgebrook Golf Course in Brookings.
The Bison's team score of 85 points was just one point shy of second place. Northern Iowa and South Dakota finished in a tie for second with 84 points apiece while the host SDSU Jackrabbits won the event with 27 points.
Brett Kelly was the top individual finisher for NDSU for the third straight meet, placing fourth out of 134 runners with a time of 25:20.89. Alec Espeland placed 12th with a time of 25:58.35 while Marty Joyce was 19th, finishing the race in 26:19.11. Lucas DeGree rounded out the Bison in the top-25, placing 25th with a time of 26:31.48.
Other finishers for NDSU included Brendan Skime (29th), Bryon Schuldt (43rd), Grady Anderson (61st), Chad DeAustin (76th), John Curley (80th) and Francis Landman (103rd).
The Bison return to action Oct. 19 when they travel to Grand Forks to compete in the UND Ron Pynn Invitational.
