NDSU rolls to 2-0 exhibition win over Bemidji State to open Dacotah Field era

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State Bison women's soccer team opened the Dacotah Field era in style Tuesday, Aug. 20 in their 2013 home opening exhibition match against Bemidji State, claiming a convincing 2-0 win over the visiting Beavers. Lauren Miller had a goal and assist while Lizzie Lukas scored a goal for the second consecutive match.

Miller scored North Dakota State's first goal in the 29th minute after blasting the ball from 25 yards out to the lower right corner of the net. It also marked her first goal of the young season.

Lukas added another goal just five minutes later in the 34th minute when she corralled a short but precise pass in the box from Miller and slid it home to make it 2-0 Bison.

The Bison defense shutout the Beavers, not allowing a shot the full 90 minutes while the NDSU offense was able to place 11 shots on goal and took 24 shots total.

Bison goalkeeper Katie McCormick went 62 minutes in-goal and claimed the victory while the Beavers' Sonja Barr suffered the loss.

The Bison travel to Minneapolis for a pair of matches to kick-off their 2013 regular season. NDSU will face Belmont (Tenn.) Friday, Aug. 23 at 4:30 p.m. before battling Minnesota Sunday, Aug. 25 at 1:30 p.m.
