Erin Teschuk captured The Summit League's individual cross country title on Saturday afternoon at Rose Creek Golf Course in Fargo, winning the six-kilometer race in a time of 21:17.4. The Bison women finished second in the team race, ending their streak of three consecutive Summit League team titles.
South Dakota won the team title with 29 points. North Dakota State was second with 60, and South Dakota State took third with 63 points as runners battled cold and windy conditions.
Teschuk ran with South Dakota's Amber Eichkorn for a majority of the race before pulling away late to win by a margin of 13 seconds. Teschuk's title makes it back-to-back individual crowns for NDSU, who had
Brecca Wahlund win the championship in 2013.
Sophomore
Taylor Janssen was the No. 2 finisher for NDSU, placing 10th overall in 22:32.8. Bison sophomore
Tarin Lachowitzer took 12th in 22:43.8, junior
Paige Stratioti was 18th in 23:01.2, and junior
Ashley Heinze finished 19th in 23:03.0 to complete the NDSU scoring.
Teschuk was named the Championships MVP, and Janssen and Lachowitzer earned second-team All-Summit League honors.
Janssen, Stratioti and Heinze all recorded personal-best times in the 6k. NDSU veterans
Abbi Aspengren and Wahlund were unable to compete due to injuries.
NDSU will compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Peoria, Ill., on Nov. 14.
