Bison Drop Summit League Doubleheader to Omaha Saturday

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State baseball team (8-15, 0-6 Summit) dropped a Summit League doubleheader to the Omaha Mavericks (16-12, 5-3 Summit) Saturday, April 12, at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo. The Bison fell in game one, 2-0, in 10 innings, before dropping the second game, 10-0.
The Bison and Mavs will close out the four game series Sunday, April 13, with another doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday's contests will not count towards The Summit League standings.
Omaha's Daniel Jewett singled home Brett Bass and Clayton Taylor in the top of the 10th inning of game one and the Bison were unable to rally in the bottom-half of the inning, resulting in the 2-0 setback.
David Ernst pitched eight innings, allowing seven hits while striking out six and walking one, but had to settle for a no decision. Trevor Jaunich took the loss for NDSU, falling to 1-2 on the season.
The Mavs' Tyler Fox picked up the win to move to 5-1 overall.
Omaha jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the second game of the day and never looked back, rolling to a 10-0 win.
Trent Keefer suffered the loss for NDSU to drop to 3-4 overall while Omaha's Steven Schoonover secured the win to improve to 1-1 on the season.
With the loss, NDSU falls to 8-15 overall and 0-6 in league play while Omaha moves to 16-12 on the season and 5-3 in league action.
