NDSU All-American Deborah John Competes at Commonwealth Games this Week

Former North Dakota State All-American hurdler Deborah John will run the 100m hurdles this week at the 2014 Commonwealth Games being contested in Glasgow, Scotland.
Competing for her native country of Trinidad & Tobago, John will race the prelims of the 100m hurdles at 3:49 p.m. (CT) on Thursday, July 31. Eight athletes will advance to the finals which will be held Friday, Aug. 1, at 4:10 p.m. (CT).
The Commonwealth Games feature athletes from 71 different nations and territories competing in 17 sports. The nations and territories involved are members of the Commonwealth of Nations and mostly territories of the former British Empire. The Commonwealth Games are the third-largest multi-sport event in the world, after only the Olympic Games and the Asian Games.
John won a Trinidad & Tobago national title in the 100m hurdles on June 21 after placing 15th and becoming a second-team All-American in the event at the NCAA Championships on June 12 to cap her senior season. She holds NDSU school records in the 60m hurdles (8.23) and 100m hurdles (13.24), as well as owning the eight fastest 100m hurdles performances in NDSU history.
