NDSU Soccer Powers Past Presentation College Sunday, 8-0

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University women's soccer team (2-0-0) powered past the Presentation College Saints, 8-0, Sunday evening, Aug. 24, to close out a four-game homestand at Dacotah Field.
Lizzie Lukas paced the Bison in scoring, recording a hat trick, while Lauren Miller netted a brace with two goals. Tiana Khamvongsa and Sam Verbeke each added a goal to round out the NDSU scoring. The Bison also benefitted from a Presentation College own goal.
NDSU is scheduled to return to action Friday, Aug. 29, when it travels to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado to face the Air Force Falcons. First-kick is slated for 4:30 p.m. MT (5:30 p.m. CT).
Lukas' first tally occurred in the sixth minute when she sent a deflection from Amy Yang after a rebound off the left post into the back of the net to give the Bison an early 1-0 advantage.
Miller added to the NDSU lead in the 21st minute, making it 2-0, after she controlled a pass from Yang and slid it home.
Lukas netted her second goal of the evening and grew the Bison lead to 3-0 in the 23rd-minute, scoring on another assist from Yang.
Miller ballooned the North Dakota State advantage to 4-0 after she controlled a rebound off the right post and hammered into the back of the net in the 31st-minute.
The Bison got one more goal just before halftime in the 41st-minute after an own goal from the Saints.
NDSU didn't let-up in the second-half as Lukas completed the hat trick with her third goal of the match on a Mikayla Jacobson assist in the 52nd-minute to build the Bison lead to 6-0.
Khamvongsa increased the NDSU advantage to 7-0 just two minutes later after she scored on a shot from just inside the box.
Sam Verbeke added an eighth and final goal of the match for North Dakota State in the 80th-minute when she slotted a pass from Khamvongsa into the center of the net.
For the match, the Bison outshot the Saints by an impressive 26-2 margin and took 13 corner kicks compared to just two by Presentation College.
NDSU goalkeeper Sierra Bonham didn't make a save in the match but picked up her second win of the season after playing the first 45 minutes between the pipes to move to 2-0-0 on the season.
