The North Dakota State men's track & field team will travel to Brookings, S.D., this Saturday, Jan. 24, to compete in the Jim Emmerich Alumni Invitational hosted by South Dakota State. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. inside the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
Teams participating are expected to include North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas City, Omaha, Mary, St. Cloud State, Iowa Central, and the host Jackrabbits.
There will also be an indoor discus event at 7 p.m. on Friday.
The Bison men enter the weekend with two athletes ranked among the nation's top 50 in their respective events. Sophomore Angus Stoudt is No. 10 in the country with his heptathlon score of 5,080 points, and sophomore Alex Renner is 45th in the shot put with a mark of 57-03.00 (17.45m).
The Bison swept the top five places in the men's shot put and claimed four of the top six spots in the weight throw at last Saturday's Bison Classic in Fargo. Renner won his second shot put title in as many tries this season, and junior Brandt Berghuis took first place in the weight throw. Freshman Payton Otterdahl climbed to fourth in NDSU history in the shot put, while sophomore Conrad Schwarzkopf moved up to eighth on the all-time weight throw list.
Freshmen Matt Bedard and Landon Jochim are scheduled to join reigning Summit League champion Alex Neumiller in the 400m dash for NDSU. Dalton Herding, the league's outdoor runner-up in the 800m, is expected to make his season debut at that distance.
