NDSU Men Claim Two Titles, Four Runner-Up Finishes at South Dakota State

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The North Dakota State men's track & field team won two event titles and earned four runner-up finishes on Saturday afternoon at the Jim Emmerich Alumni Invitational hosted by South Dakota State at the new Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.

The Bison ended the day with a victory in the 4x400m relay, with the team of Landon Jochim, Jonah Warwick, Matt Bedard and Alex Neumiller finishing in 3:17.88.

Warwick, a redshirt freshman and Sioux Falls, S.D., native, also won the 800m in a time of 1:53.65 – the second-fastest in The Summit League this year.

Jochim, a freshman from Bismarck, N.D., finished second in the 400m dash in 49.11, only 11-hundredths of a second from entering the Bison all-time top 10. Neumiller ran 49.72 for sixth place, and Bedard clocked 49.89 for eighth in the 400m.

Bison senior Lucas DeGree claimed a runner-up finish in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:14.69. Junior Brandt Berghuis took second in the weight throw at 58-10.00 (17.93m), and Conrad Schwarzkopf was fourth at 56-10.25 (17.33m).

NDSU junior Beau Kashmark placed second in the high jump at 6-06.25 (1.99m).

In the shot put, sophomore Alex Renner recorded the second-best indoor mark of his career, throwing 57-04.75 (17.49m) for third place and coming within five inches of his school record.

Grant Mjelstad was NDSU's top finisher in the pole vault, clearing 16-00.75 (4.90m) for third place.

Senior Parker McKittrick ran 8.42 seconds in the prelims and 8.43 in the finals of the 60m hurdles for a fourth-place finish. Freshman Matt Moberg was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 21-08.25 (6.61m).

Junior Brendan Skime clocked a personal-best time of 8:42.43 in the 3000m, good enough for fourth place in the meet.

Sophomore Brian Blasey and true freshman Payton Otterdahl placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in the indoor discus on Friday evening. Blasey threw 152-8 (46.53m) and Otterdahl posted a mark of 152-4 (46.43m).

The Bison will compete next at the University of Minnesota's Jack Johnson Classic on Jan. 30-31.
