Bison Men’s Track & Field Ready for Jack Johnson Classic at Minnesota

The North Dakota State men's track & field team will compete at the Jack Johnson Classic hosted by the University of Minnesota on Friday, Jan. 30, and Saturday, Jan. 31, inside the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse.
Friday's action starts at 2:30 p.m. with the unseeded section of the men's pole vault, and Bison athletes will also compete in the 200m dash and long jump on Friday.
The women's weight throw opens the field event action on Saturday at 9:30 a.m., with the men's weight throw to follow. Running events start at 11 a.m.
NDSU junior Brandt Berghuis, ranked first in The Summit League in the weight throw and fourth in the shot put, will compete in both events on Saturday. Sophomore Alex Renner, NDSU's school record holder in the shot put, is ranked 61st in the nation in the event entering the weekend.
The Bison have four of the top five Summit League performers in the weight throw this season, with Berghuis leading, Conrad Schwarzkopf second, Trevor Berner third, and Renner fifth.
Junior Colin Paarmann, ranked among the top five in the league in three events this season, will compete in the long jump on Friday night and the 60m hurdles on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Landon Jochim is scheduled to run the 200m on Friday and the 400m on Saturday after running the 400m in 49.11 in his Bison debut at South Dakota State last weekend.
