Miller Sparks Bison to 67-62 Win over Idaho State

LOGAN, Utah – The North Dakota State men's basketball team rallied to erase a second-half deficit yet again, posting a 67-62 victory over Idaho State in the opening game of the Global Hoops Sports Showcase on Monday evening.
NDSU (8-3 overall) was behind by as many as 10 points in the first half and still trailed by seven at 43-36 with 9:24 remaining in the game. The Bison used a 19-4 run – which started with six straight points by NDSU sophomore guard Paul Miller – over a five-minute stretch to take a 59-49 lead with 1:31 left on the clock.
Miller led all players with 17 points. He made six of his final eight shots after missing all five attempts in a scoreless first half. Bison junior Carlin Dupree finished with 10 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals.
NDSU sophomore A.J. Jacobson tied his career high with eight rebounds, and senior Kory Brown matched his career best with five steals.
Trailing 45-40 with 6:30 remaining in the game, Miller scored six straight points with two contested jumpers and a reverse layup in traffic to give NDSU the lead for the first time in nearly 28 minutes. NDSU put the game out of reach with three-pointers from Miller, Jacobson and freshman Khy Kabellis on three consecutive possessions, pushing the advantage to 57-49 with just under two minutes to play.
Idaho State (3-6 overall) was led by 14 points from Ali Faruq-Bey. The Bison limited the Bengals to 39-percent shooting from the field, and NDSU posted a 42-36 rebounding advantage.
NDSU made 6-of-14 attempts from beyond the arc in the second half.
Senior forward Chris Kading came off the bench to post eight points and six rebounds, all in the first half.
NDSU will play Texas-Rio Grande Valley at 6:30 p.m. CT / 5:30 p.m. MT on Tuesday night.
