NDSU Rallies for 22nd Straight Home Win, Moves Back into First Place

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team erased a seven-point deficit in the second half to earn its 22nd straight home victory, topping Omaha 64-57 on Thursday evening at Scheels Arena.
The Bison improved to 16-7 overall and 8-2 in The Summit League, and with South Dakota State's loss at Fort Wayne, NDSU moved back into first place in the league standings.
Senior guard Lawrence Alexander led the Bison with 18 points, moving into 10th place on the NDSU all-time scoring list. Alexander has now won more games than any player in NDSU history, with tonight being his 83rd career victory. Mike Felt won 82 games from 2009-14.
Omaha (8-14 overall, 2-8 Summit) led 33-28 at halftime and 35-28 with 18 minutes remaining in the game. The Bison rattled off an 11-2 run over the next four minutes, keyed by back-to-back three-pointers from Alexander and Chris Kading. Dexter Werner capped the burst with a bucket to put NDSU up 39-37 with 14:41 to play.
The Mavericks recaptured the lead at 42-41 on a trey by Marcus Tyus, who led all scorers with 21 points, but a three-pointer by A.J. Jacobson with 12:19 left put the Bison back on top for good at 44-42.
NDSU shot 50 percent in the second half and connected on 4-of-9 attempts from beyond the arc to outscore Omaha 36-24 after halftime.
Jacobson finished with 15 points and led all players with four assists. Four Bison – Werner, Kory Brown, Carlin Dupree and Paul Miller – all grabbed five rebounds.
NDSU's home-court win streak is the seventh-longest in the nation. The Bison are now 7-0 against Omaha in Division I meetings.
The Bison stay at home to host South Dakota on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 2 p.m. The Coyotes won the first meeting this season – 71-67 in Vermillion on Jan. 14.
