FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's track & field team won seven more event titles on the final day of the Thundering Herd Classic on Saturday inside the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility, led by efforts from freshman Payton Otterdahl and sophomore Grant Mjelstad that rank among the best in school history.

Otterdahl, a true freshman from Rosemount, Minn., won the shot put crown with a personal-best throw of 57-05.50 (17.51m) that ranks him No. 2 in NDSU history in the event.

Mjelstad, a sophomore from Fargo, claimed the heptathlon title with 4,996 points to move from ninth to sixth on the NDSU all-time list.

Based on marks entering the weekend, both Otterdahl and Mjelstad now rank among the nation's top 70 in their respective events.

NDSU senior Parker McKittrick was the 60m hurdles champion in a season-best 8.27 seconds that currently ranks him second in The Summit League. Jerome Begin took first place in the 400m dash in 49.39.

Bison junior Brendan Skime won the title in the 1000m run with a time of 2:29.57, junior Dalton Herding won the 800m in 1:56.82, and junior Beau Kashmark cleared 6-06.00 (1.98m) to take first in the high jump for NDSU.

Sophomore Matt Neururer scored a personal-best 4,720 points in the heptathlon for second place, closing with a strong time of 2:42.76 in the 1000m. Freshman Matt Moberg was third in the heptathlon with 4,552 points.

NDSU's Colin Paarmann was the runner-up to McKittrick in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.37 seconds. Bison freshman Landon Jochim was second to Begin in the 400m, crossing the line in 49.52.

Other Bison runners-up included Alex Renner (shot put), Lucas DeGree (1000m) and Matt Jennings (800m).

NDSU will split its athletes between the SDSU Indoor Invitational and the Iowa State Classic next weekend.
