Jackson Stands in 2nd Place at UC Riverside Spring Classic Heptathlon

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – North Dakota State sophomore Rose Jackson racked up a new first-day high of 3,014 points in the heptathlon to stand in second place at the UC Riverside Spring Track Classic on Thursday afternoon.
Jackson's score of 3,014 points through the first four events is an improvement of 92 points over her previous first-day best. She trails UC Riverside's Danielle Littleton by 74 points heading into the final three events tomorrow.
Five other Bison heptathletes are currently among the top 10 in the standings – sophomore Lexy Boschee is sixth (2,710 points), freshman Amanda Levin is seventh (2,704), sophomore Deidre Hahn is eighth (2,666), junior Ann Govig is ninth (2,597), and freshman Jaelin Beachy is 10th (2,490).
Jackson opened with the fastest wind-legal 100m hurdles time of her career in 15.52 seconds. She posted the top marks in the heptathlon field in the shot put (37-11.50 / 11.57m) and the 200m dash (24.42 seconds) to close out the first day.
Boschee cleared 5-06.50 (1.69m) in the high jump for the top mark, and Govig was second-best at 5-05.25 (1.66m). Beachy was second to Jackson in the shot put with a throw of 32-06.50 (9.92m).
The heptathlon is scheduled to resume at UC Riverside at 2 p.m. (CT) on Friday. The majority of the meet's events are scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
