Former North Dakota State hurdler Deborah John won her second straight national title in the 100m hurdles on Saturday, June 27, at the Trinidad & Tobago National Track & Field Championships held in Port-of-Spain.
John claimed her nation's top spot with a time of 13.37 seconds – the fourth-fastest time of her decorated career and only one-hundredth of a second off her winning time of 13.36 last year. John, who concluded her collegiate career with NDSU in 2014, also took runner-up honors in the 100m hurdles at the Trinidad & Tobago Championships in 2013.
John earned second team All-American honors in the 100m hurdles as a Bison in 2014.
Current NDSU freshman Alyssa Olin (Mott, N.D.) placed sixth in the javelin at the USATF Junior Championships in Eugene, Ore. Olin's best throw measured 151-8 (46.24m), good enough for the second-best distance of her career.
The USATF Championships will conclude tomorrow at Hayward Field, with Bison alum Leslie Brost competing in the pole vault at 2 p.m. CT / 12 p.m. PT.
