Jackson Posts New First-Day High Score to Lead NDSU at California Invitational Heptathlon

AZUSA, Calif. – Junior Rose Jackson scored 3,169 points on the first day of the California Invitational heptathlon to lead the group of North Dakota State women's track & field athletes competing on Wednesday.
Jackson's first-day point total is an improvement of 39 points over her previous high through four events. She capped the opening day with a career-best time of 24.01 seconds in the 200m dash, tying her for fourth-fastest in NDSU history.
Jackson stands in 13th place overall. NDSU junior Lexy Boschee is in 31st place with 2,797 points, sophomore Amanda Levin is 34th with 2,779 points, and senior Ann Govig is in 36th with 2,753.
Govig cleared a lifetime-best 5-07.75 (1.72m) in the high jump, nearly ranking her among the NDSU all-time top 10 in the event.
Jackson opened the day with a time of 15.07 seconds in the 100m hurdles before tying her outdoor personal-best in the high jump at 5-01.75 (1.57m).
The Bison will continue competition in southern California over the next three days, with Thursday featuring the first day of the Mt. SAC Relays, the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate meet, and the conclusion of the California Invitational Multi-Events.
