NDSU Track & Field Hosts Lyle Hokanson Classic this Weekend

The North Dakota State men's track & field team returns to Fargo this week to host the Lyle Hokanson Classic and Team Nodak Multis. The meet will be contested on Friday, Apr. 22, and Saturday, Apr. 23, at Schlanser Track on the NDSU campus.
Friday's action begins with the decathlon at 1 p.m., the heptathlon at 1:30 p.m., and the hammer throw at 2 p.m.
Saturday's competition will get started with the resumption of the multi-events at 10 a.m., followed by the javelin at 11 a.m. and the running events at 1:45 p.m. All start times are tentative and may be adjusted based on the number of athletes entered in the meet.
This will be the first of two home meets this outdoor season for the Bison, who will also host the NDSU Tune-Up Meet on May 6.
The Bison men currently lead The Summit League in six events this season, including all four throwing events. NDSU's league leaders include Jerome Begin (400m hurdles), Alex Renner (shot put), Payton Otterdahl (discus), Conrad Schwarzkopf (hammer), Matti Mortimore (javelin) and Brock Larson (decathlon).
Mortimore is ranked sixth in the NCAA in the javelin, and Renner is No. 11 in the shot put to lead the Bison on the national performance lists. As a team, the NDSU men are ranked sixth in the Midwest region.
