NDSU Track & Field Kicks Into High Gear Saturday with Bison Classic

The defending Summit League champion North Dakota State men's track & field team will host the Bison Classic on Saturday, Jan. 14, inside the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility.
The men's weight throw will get things started at 11 a.m., with the women's weight throw to follow. The long jump and pole vault are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. Running events will begin at 2 p.m. with prelims in the 60m hurdles.
Teams competing with the Bison will include South Dakota State, North Dakota, MSU Moorhead, Northern State, the University of Mary and the University of Manitoba.
The NDSU men are looking to retain The Summit League's indoor team title this season after winning their fifth indoor team championship in 2016.
The Bison men return eight individual all-league performers from the 2016 indoor season in Ryan Enerson, Landon Jochim, Matt Neururer, Payton Otterdahl, Alex Renner, Conrad Schwarzkopf, Steffan Stroh and Jonah Warwick. NDSU also returns multiple members of the all-league 4x400m and distance medley relays.
Schwarzkopf is currently ranked 11th in the NCAA in the weight throw after posting a personal-best mark at the Dakota Classic on Dec. 2.
