Bison Women Shine in 400m, Weight Throw at South Dakota State Saturday

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team dominated the 400m dash and the weight throw on Saturday at the Jim Emmerich/Alumni Invitational, and the Bison women established several marks that rank among the school's all-time top 10.
NDSU swept the top three places in the 400m dash, led by senior Morgan Milbrath who ran an indoor career-best of 54.61. Junior Alexis Woods clocked a personal-best of 55.28 to place second in the meet, and senior Rose Jackson ran a personal best of 55.66 for third. Following those performances, Milbrath ranks third, Woods ranks eighth, and Jackson stands at 11th-fastest in NDSU history.
Bison senior Amy Andrushko clocked 1:32.80 on her way to winning the 600m. She climbed to sixth on the NDSU all-time list in the event.
Woods, Milbrath, Andrushko and Jackson teamed up to close the meet with a first-place finish in the 4x400m relay. Their time of 3:44.41 ranks them eighth-fastest in NDSU indoor history.
Bison sophomore Annika Rotvold won the mile in 4:54.33, moving to No. 8 all-time at NDSU in the event.
The Bison women took three of the top four places in the weight throw, with senior Katelyn Weimerskirch winning with a toss of 64-01.00 (19.53m). Junior Courtney Pasiowitz was the runner-up at 63-05.00 (19.33m), and redshirt freshman Maddy Nilles finished fourth with a mark of 59-08.50 (18.20m).
NDSU finished 2-3-4 in the shot put with Pasiowitz (49-08.50 / 15.15m) and sophomores Shelby Gunnells (47-10.50 / 14.59m) and Bailey Retzlaff (47-03.50 / 14.41m).
Junior Lauren Gietzen matched her indoor PR by clearing 12-05.50 (3.80m) to be the runner-up in the pole vault. Senior Taylor Janssen took third in the 800m in a personal-best 2:13.17.
Bison freshman Macy Denzer clocked a season-best 8.96 seconds in the 60m hurdles. She also placed fourth in the long jump and 10th in the 200m dash.
NDSU will compete next in Lincoln, Neb., at the Adidas Classic hosted by Nebraska on Saturday, Jan. 28.
