Bison Women Win Four Events, Have Five Runner-Up Finishes at Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team claimed four event titles and five runner-up finishes at the Adidas Classic hosted by Nebraska on Saturday. The Bison competed with Texas Tech, Texas State and the host Huskers in the meet.
NDSU senior Morgan Milbrath claimed first place in the 400m dash with an impressive performance. Her time of 54.26 was a new indoor personal-best and ranks her No. 2 in NDSU history. Bison senior Rose Jackson clocked 24.42 in the 200m dash for third place in the meet and fourth-fastest all-time at NDSU.
Senior Katelyn Weimerskirch and junior Courtney Pasiowitz finished 1-2 in the weight throw, with Weimerskirch getting the win at 63-05.50 (19.34m). The Bison women earned five of the top six and eight of the top 10 places in the event. Redshirt freshman Maddy Nilles improved her weight throw PR that ranks eighth in NDSU history, throwing 60-08.00 (18.49m) for fourth place.
Senior Taylor Janssen won the mile in 4:55.32, ranking her ninth-fastest in NDSU history. Bison sophomore Kayla Huhnerkoch was the runner-up, cutting four seconds off her previous personal-best to clock in at 4:56.12.
Senior Amy Andrushko won the 800m, running 2:11.65, and Jenny Guibert was third for NDSU in 2:14.65.
Alexis Woods, Milbrath, Andrushko and Jackson teamed up to become the sixth-fastest 4x400 relay in NDSU indoor history, finishing third in 3:41.99.
NDSU junior Lauren Gietzen cleared a personal-best 12-11.50 (3.95m) in the pole vault to finish second and move up to fifth all-time at NDSU. Sophomore Klara Lyon took fifth place with a season-best vault of 12-08.00 (3.86m).
Annika Rotvold continued her stellar sophomore season for the Bison, earning a runner-up finish in the 3000m in 9:53.51 and landing just outside of NDSU's all-time top 10.
Pasiowitz earned a runner-up finish in the shot put, throwing 50-04.00 (15.34m). Sophomore Shelby Gunnells finished fourth at 49-02.50 (15.00m).
NDSU returns home to host the Bison Open on Feb. 3-4 next weekend.
