Jackson, Milbrath Record Impressive Performances to Get Bison Open Started

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State seniors Rose Jackson and Morgan Milbrath posted impressive performances to highlight the action for the Bison women's track & field team on the first day of the Bison Open on Friday.

Jackson scored a career-best 3,910 points to win the pentathlon, ranking her second all-time at NDSU and 13th in the country this season. The largest boost to Jackson's score came with a leap of 19-09.75 (6.04m) in the long jump, ranking her fourth in NDSU history. She also clocked a personal-best time of 9.16 seconds in the 60m hurdles and had a lifetime-best mark of 41-10.00 (12.75m) in the shot put.

NDSU junior Amanda Levin capped her pentathlon with back-to-back personal-bests to finish with 3,696 points to rank No. 6 in NDSU history. Levin registered a career-best long jump mark of 19-00.00 (5.79m) and ran the fastest 800m of her life at 2:18.68.

Bison senior Morgan Milbrath destroyed the NDSU school record in the 300m dash, running 38.68 for the win on Friday evening. Milbrath owns the 15th-fastest 300m time in the NCAA this year after breaking Brittany Page's previous school record by 0.89 seconds.

NDSU's Alexis Woods clocked 39.36 in the 300m dash to finish as the runner-up to Milbrath, making her the second-fastest woman in NDSU history in the event.

In just her second career pentathlon, freshman Macy Denzer (Watertown, S.D.) scored 3,615 points to rank ninth all-time at NDSU. Denzer ran 8.82 seconds in the 60m hurdles, tying her for 10th-fastest all-time at NDSU in the event.

The Bison women took the top three places in the weight throw, with senior Katelyn Weimerskirch (64-07.25 / 19.69m) winning and junior Courtney Pasiowitz (64-00.50 / 19.52m) in second.

Redshirt freshman Maddy Nilles moved up to fourth in NDSU history in the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 63-03.50 (19.29m). She joined Weimerskirch and Pasiowitz in the NCAA's top 50 this season.

Kayla Huhnerkoch, Tara Smart, Jenny Guibert and Taylor Janssen won the distance medley relay for the Bison women in 11:47.26. They stand as the sixth-fastest team in NDSU history.

The Bison Open resumes at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday with the heptathlon 60m hurdles. Unseeded sections of running events begin at 12:20 p.m., field events start at 1 p.m., and running event finals start at 1:30 p.m.
