Tuesday's Game: The North Dakota State men's basketball team (4-5 overall) will host NAIA opponent Valley City State (4-9) on Tuesday, Dec. 12, inside the Scheels Center on the NDSU campus.

About Valley City State: The Vikings were picked to finish second in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) preseason poll. Head coach Ryan Montgomery is in his second season at Valley City State.
VCSU's top three scorers from last season – Rashad Satahoo, Jayden Ferguson and Austin Dunbar – all returned this year. Ferguson and Dunbar, both 6-5 senior forwards, lead the Vikings this year with 14.8 points per game and 13.1 points per game, respectively.
History with Valley City State: This will be the 50th meeting between North Dakota State and Valley City State dating back to 1901-02. NDSU leads the series 42-7 and has won 18 in a row, including a 69-49 victory in the last meeting on Nov. 18, 2015. VCSU hasn't defeated the Bison since 1963-64.
Century Mark for Jacobson: A.J. Jacobson will play in his 100th career game Tuesday night vs. Valley City State. Assuming Jacobson starts, he will also become the 15th player in NDSU history to start at least 100 career games for the Bison. He ranks 3rd in school history in minutes average (32.2), 9th in three-pointers made (174), and 10th in career three-point percentage (.402).
Up North: NDSU earned its third straight win over North Dakota in Grand Forks on Dec. 9. The Bison improved to 6-3 against the Fighting Hawks as Division I opponents.
Hot Shooting: The Bison shot 59.6 percent in their 88-79 victory at North Dakota on Saturday night – NDSU's best team shooting performance since hitting 61.7 percent vs. Denver on Jan. 3, 2016.
New Highs: Several Bison set new career- or season-highs in the win at North Dakota on Dec. 9. Tyson Ward set a new career-high with six assists, Cameron Hunter set a new high with six rebounds, and Spencer Eliason scored a season-best nine points.
Doesn't Happen Often: NDSU's three straight losses to Stephen F. Austin, Mississippi State and Missouri State marked the first three-game losing streak for the Bison since late February and March of 2012. NDSU had played 168 games in that stretch without losing three in a row.
Schedule Note: North Dakota State and Omaha are the only two Summit League men's basketball teams that haven't played a game against a non-Division I opponent this season. As of Dec. 10, five Summit League teams have already played at least two non-Division I games.
Pair of 1,000-Point Scorers: NDSU is one of just 21 Division I teams that have at least two active 1,000-point scorers. Seniors Paul Miller and A.J. Jacobson both surpassed 1,000 career points in the first half of NDSU's win over Denver on Feb. 11 of last season. Jacobson became the 33rd Bison to reach the milestone, and Miller was the 34th.
Stat Sheet Stuffer: Senior guard Paul Miller is averaging 18.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists over the past six games.
No Freebies: Only seven Division I teams are attempting fewer free throws per game than NDSU this season. The Bison have averaged 13.9 free throw attempts through nine contests.
Award for Ward: Sophomore Tyson Ward was named the Summit League Player of the Week on Nov. 27 for his performance in two Bison victories on Nov. 22 and Nov. 25. Ward averaged 21.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in the NDSU wins over Florida A&M and Stetson, shooting 68 percent from the field. He scored a career-high 26 points in the blowout win over Stetson on Nov. 25.
Samuelson Fills it Up: Sophomore guard Jared Samuelson scored a career-high 14 points in NDSU's 54-50 loss at Stephen F. Austin on Nov. 28. He scored 13 of his 14 in the first half.
Into the Top 20: Senior guard Paul Miller ranks 20th in school history with 1,263 points. He moved into NDSU's all-time top 20 vs. Missouri State on Dec. 4, passing Ron Schlieman (1965-68).
New Career High for Ward: Tyson Ward scored a career-high 26 points with a 10-for-12 shooting performance and also grabbed six rebounds in NDSU's 94-58 win over Stetson.
Impact Freshman: Redshirt freshman Cameron Hunter scored 35 points in the first two games of his career – 11 at UC Santa Barbara on Nov. 11, and 24 at USC on Nov. 13. The only freshman in NDSU's Division I era to score more points in his first two career games was Mike Nelson (36), who scored 15 against Minnesota and 21 against Hamline in 2005.
