NDSU Shuts Out St. Bonaventure 10-0 to Open RussMatt Central Florida Invitational

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The North Dakota State University baseball team rolled to a 10-0 shutout win in seven innings over the St. Bonaventure Bonnies to open play in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational Friday, March 10, at historic Chain of Lakes Stadium.
With the victory, the Bison improve to 7-6 on the season while the Bonnies dip to 3-5 overall.
NDSU senior right-handed pitcher Luke Lind (2-1) tossed the first complete game shutout of his career and only allowed three hits with four strikeouts and no walks to earn his second win of the season. He didn't allow a hit until a lead-off double in the fourth inning.
Junior Mason Pierzchalski, sophomore Alec Abercrombie and freshman Tucker Rohde each tallied two hits in the contest, leading North Dakota State at the plate.
The Bison scored three runs in the top of the second inning on a fielder's choice off the bat of Bennett Hostetler and a St. Bonaventure fielding error to gain a 3-0 lead.
NDSU added to its advantage with two runs in the third. Rohde drove in Pierzchalski with an RBI single to center field, before Palmiscno hit an infield single, allowing Abercrombie to cross home plate to increase the Bison lead to 5-0.
North Dakota State doubled its lead with five runs in the top of the sixth inning. Drew Fearing plated the opening run with a sacrifice fly, before Ben Petersen smacked an RBI single to left center, plating NDSU's second run of the frame. Petersen and Matt Elsenpeter scored on a Bonnie error, prior to Logan Busch scoring the Bison's final run of the inning on an RBI single up the middle.
North Dakota State outhit St. Bonaventure in the game, 10-3, and didn't commit an error, compared to three miscues for the Bonnies.
SBU outfielder Ryan McCarrick went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double, leading St. Bonaventure in the batter's box.
Brandon Schlimm (0-2) suffered the loss on the mound for the Bonnies after giving up 10 runs – three earned – on 10 hits with two strikeouts and a pair of walks.
NDSU and St. Bonaventure are scheduled to play at 2:30 p.m. ET (1:30 p.m. CT) at Henley Field in Lakeland, Fla., Saturday, March 11, in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.
