LINCOLN, Neb. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team recorded a bevy of personal-best performances in the throwing events to highlight the Husker Spring Invite on Saturday.
Bison senior Katelyn Weimerskirch threw 199-2 (60.72m) to win the hammer throw and break Emily Lesser's school record from 2013. Weimerskirch now ranks 24th in the NCAA this season in the event.
The Bison women swept the top six places in the hammer, with freshman Amy Herrington throwing a personal-best 186-1 (56.72m) for runner-up honors. She ranks seventh in NDSU history.
NDSU junior Alyssa Olin registered personal-bests on four consecutive attempts in the javelin, pulling out the victory with a winning toss of 169-3 (51.60m) which ranks 15th in the nation. She trails only school record holder Sierra Rosenau on the NDSU all-time list.
Sophomore Maddy Nilles won the discus title with a career-best mark of 173-9 (52.97m), which makes her second-best in NDSU history and among the top 30 in the NCAA this season. Redshirt freshman Bailey Retzlaff threw 158-9 (48.38m) on her first attempt – a PR by more than nine feet and good enough to rank her fourth all-time at NDSU.
