Bison Finish Eighth at Final Fall Invite

POWELLS POINT, N.C. - The North Dakota State men's golf team had its third-best round of the fall season on Tuesday, as the Bison finished in a tie for eighth at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate to wrap-up the fall portion of the schedule.
Andrew Israelson led the Bison, as he shot a 70 on the final day for a 215 for the three rounds. Israelson used five birdies on the final day, including four on the back-nine, to finish in a tie for 18th. Israelson was two-under par on the par four holes in the round, tied for the fourth best on those holes. Van Holmgren tied for 22nd after shooting a 71 for the second-straight day. Holmgren had four birdies on the day, while also having an eagle on the 16th to finish with a 217 for the three rounds. Holmgren was tied for second at three-under par on the par five holes in the round, while he was one of five players to card an eagle during the round.
Lucas Johnson fired three birdies on the back-nine, as he shot a 72 in the third round. Johnson finished in a tie for 32nd with a 220. Will Holmgren shot a 75 in the third round, as his two birdies on the back-nine gave him a 230 for the three rounds and a tie for 63rd. Dax Wallat rounded out the Bison lineup with a 74 in the third round, as he finished with a 233. Wallat had four birdies on the day, including three on the back-nine, as he finished in a tie for 72nd.
NDSU was two-over par on par four holes in the third round, the third best score among the teams entered. The Bison were also six-under par on the par five holes, the fourth best score among the teams.
The Bison finished in a tie for eighth with an 881 for the three rounds. Campbell won the invite for the fourth-straight year, as the Camels finished with an 818 for the three rounds. Campbell's Jesper Svensson took top individual honors with a 197 for the tournament.
NDSU will open the spring portion of the schedule Feb. 16-17 at The Invitational at Savannah Harbor in Savannah, Ga.
