Olin Captures Another Javelin Crown for Bison Women Friday

LONG BEACH, Calif. – North Dakota State senior Alyssa Olin claimed the javelin title at the Beach Invitational Friday, throwing 188-6 (57.45m) for the second-best mark of her career.
Olin (Mott, N.D.) remains No. 2 on the NCAA performance list this season in the javelin.
Junior Maddy Nilles led the Bison women in the hammer throw at Long Beach State, posting a mark of 209-5 (63.83m) for fifth place just one day after throwing 212-6 (64.79m). Junior Shelby Gunnells moved up to No. 4 in NDSU history, throwing a personal-best 197-4 (60.14m) that ranks among the top 50 in the NCAA this year. Sophomore Amy Herrington climbed to fifth all-time at NDSU in the hammer with her throw of 196-3 (59.82m).
Bison freshman Kari Wolfe placed 16th in the javelin with a throw of 154-7 (47.11m).
At the Mt. SAC Relays, junior Annika Rotvold led the Bison distance and mid-distance crew, taking third in the 1500m with a time of 4:28.08. Bison junior Katie Bostrom (Fargo, N.D.) ran 4:29.50 in the 1500m, cutting seven seconds off her previous best to rank ninth in NDSU history.
Freshman Peyton Frolek (Lidgerwood, N.D.) cut another second off her 800m time, running 2:10.68 at the Mt. SAC Relays. She ranks second in The Summit League this season in the event.
The Bison will conclude competition at the Beach Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays Saturday.
