NDSU Men’s Cross Country Takes Summit League Runner-Up Honors

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University men's cross country team took runner-up honors at the Summit League Championships for the third straight year on Saturday.
The Bison finished with 64 points in the team standings, trailing only South Dakota State who defended its title with a perfect score of 15. South Dakota was third with 74 points.
Junior Alex Bartholomay paced the Bison, earning first-team All-Summit League honors with a seventh-place finish in 25:10.8. Junior Tim Heikkila took ninth in 25:13.7, and freshman Isaac Huber was 13th for NDSU in 25:28.6.
Keiser Freetly was the No. 4 finisher for the Bison in 25:58.3 for 19th place, and redshirt freshman Josh Samyn (25:59.5) completed the NDSU team scoring in 20th place with a personal-best time.
Heikkila and Huber garnered second-team All-Summit League honors for their top-14 finishes. For Bartholomay, it was a personal-best time and the highest conference meet finish of his career.
NDSU also had true freshman Payton Smith finish 21st overall in 26:08.3.
The Bison will race next at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Stillwater, Okla., on Nov. 15.
