Bison Women’s Track & Field Shoots for 12th Consecutive Summit League Indoor Title

One of the nation's longest-running championship streaks will attempt to add one more this weekend, as the North Dakota State women's track & field team travels to the Summit League Indoor Track & Field Championships this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22-23.
The NDSU women enter the 2019 conference meet with 11 straight indoor team titles and 22 straight championships overall, including outdoor.
South Dakota State is hosting the meet at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings. The meet begins with multi-events action at 9:30 a.m. both days. Running events begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday.
NDSU enters the meet with league leaders in six events this season – Kelby Anderson (mile, 3000m), Bailey DeMar (triple jump), Maddy Nilles (weight throw), Bailey Retzlaff (shot put), and the 4x400m relay. The Bison women have seven of the top eight performers in the league in the shot put, as well as four of the top six in the weight throw.
With Michaela Baker and Jodi Lipp joining DeMar, the Bison have three of the league's top four performers in the triple jump this season. Sophomore Daejha Moss will enter the meet ranked second in the high jump, third in the long jump, and sixth in the 60m dash.
The Bison women were voted as preseason favorites to win the indoor team title once again, and pre-meet rankings have South Dakota as the top challenger for NDSU. Last year, the Bison topped the Coyotes, 224-207.
