EDINBURG, Texas - UT Rio Grande Valley (3-3) scored seven runs in the sixth inning, as the Vaqueros defeated the North Dakota State (1-4) baseball team 8-3.

The Bison started the scoring in the third inning by pushing three runs across. A bunt single by Jake Malec brought in Jayse McLean for the first run of the game. With two outs, Jack Simonsen singled to right field, bringing in Malec and Ben Tallman for a 3-0 Bison lead. UT Rio Grande Valley scored an unearned run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the lead to 3-1.

In the sixth inning, UT Rio Grande Valley scored seven runs on four hits. Five of the seven runs in the inning came with two outs.

Brock Anderson led the Bison with three hits, while Simonsen had two hits and two RBI. Max Loven had a no-decision on the mound, giving up an unearned run on four hits in five innings of work. Loven struck out four and walked one. Parker Harm (1-1) suffered the loss, giving up four earned runs on three walks. Jake Drew tossed the final three innings, striking out two and giving up three runs on four hits.

The Bison return to action on Sunday, as they face Portland and UT Rio Grande Valley in a doubleheader on the final day of the Al Ogletree Classic.
