AUSTIN, Texas – North Dakota State senior Amanda Levin finished off the best performance of her career in the heptathlon on Thursday, headlining the efforts of the Bison women's track & field team at a trio of meets.
Levin scored a career-best 5,469 points in the heptathlon at the Texas Relays, moving up to third in NDSU history behind only All-Americans Whitney Carlson and Rose Jackson. Levin's point total was a new personal-best by a 148-point margin.
Bison junior Amy Herrington added two and a half feet to her hammer throw personal-best, with a mark of 208-11 (63.69m) that ranks third in NDSU history. Junior Bailey Retzlaff improved her hammer PR to 199-8 (60.86m) and now ranks sixth all-time at NDSU.
NDSU redshirt freshman Akealy Moton posted a personal-best in the javelin for the second straight meet, throwing 159-11 (48.75m) at the Texas Relays to rank fifth in NDSU history.
At the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in Hayward, Calif., junior Alaysia Freetly moved up to ninth all-time at NDSU in the 3000m steeplechase, running a personal-best 11:04.69.
Sophomore Amanda Anderson took third in the discus at Texas State's Bobcat Invitational, throwing 165-6 (50.45m).
NDSU junior Kennedi Sand is the top Bison woman in the heptathlon after Day 1 at the Bobcat Invitational, scoring 2,833 points through four events. Sand stands in fifth place overall. NDSU's Macy Denzer is in eighth with 2,805 points, Dakota Wood is 10th with 2,773, and Jenna Kes is 11th with 2,677.
All three meets continue on Friday.
