North Dakota State distance runner Kelby Anderson posted one of the top 5,000-meter times in school history on Friday night, highlighting the performances of the Bison women's track & field team at a trio of meets in Texas and California.
Anderson, a redshirt freshman from Bismarck, N.D., clocked 16:24.69 in the 5000m at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in Hayward, Calif., on Friday night. That time ranks her third-fastest in NDSU outdoor history behind only All-Americans Erin Teschuk and Maddie Van Beek.
At the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, Bison junior Maggie Schwarzkopf threw a shot put career-best of 52-00.00 (15.85m) to win her section. She moved up to sixth in NDSU outdoor history.
Sophomore Kari Wolfe surpassed 50 meters in the javelin for the second time in her career, throwing 167-2 (50.96m) for fifth place at the Texas Relays.
Michaela Baker continued her breakthrough sophomore season with another personal-best – 14.35 in the 100m hurdles to fall just outside the NDSU all-time Top 10 in the event.
Bailey DeMar took seventh in her section of the triple jump at the Texas Relays with a mark of 40-04.00 (12.29m).
At Texas State's Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Bison junior Macy Denzer scored a personal-best 4,727 points to finish third in the heptathlon.
Sophomore Alyssa Lind ran 56.44 in the 400m dash for eighth place at Texas State. It was the third-fastest 400m of her NDSU career.
Bison sophomore Jenna Kes posted a long jump personal-best of 18-08.00 (5.69m) in the heptathlon at Texas State. Freshman Jodi Lipp placed 11th in the long jump with the same mark of 18-08.00 (5.69m).
Freshman Rhaeghn Gripentrog clocked a 100m dash personal-best of 12.26.
Senior Katie Bostrom was the top Bison in the 1500m at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, running 4:36.91. Junior Alaysia Freetly cut nearly four seconds off her previous PR in the 1500m, running 4:39.87.
All three meets will conclude on Saturday.
