DAVIS, Calif. - A seven-run first inning propelled the North Dakota State baseball team to victory Friday afternoon, as the Bison beat UC Davis 7-4 at Dobbins Stadium.Â
The Bison improved to 2-4 on the year, while the Aggies dropped to 3-3. The two teams will face each other in a doubleheader on Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. (central) for the opener.
NDSU had a season-high 12 hits, including four players with multiple hits.
Tucker Rohde tied a career-high with four hits, while
Brock Anderson,
Bennett Hostetler and
Tyler Silva each had a pair.
Max Loven earned his first victory of the year, tossing six strong innings. Loven allowed just two hits and a walk, while striking out three.
Gabe Pilla picked up his first career save, getting the final two outs with a strikeout and flyout.Â
Hostetler started the scoring in the first inning, as he crushed the first Bison home run of the year to left field.
Peter Brookshaw and Anderson scored on the play. With one out, Silva singled to left field to bring in Rohde before
Charley Hesse scored on a ground ball by
Jake Malec. With two outs, Anderson doubled to left field to bring in
Jack Simonsen and Silva. UC Davis scored on a solo home run in the seventh before adding three runs with two outs in the eighth.
