Bison Volleyball Hosts Jackrabbits and Coyotes

THIS WEEK
The North Dakota State (12-16, 6-10 Summit) volleyball team returns to Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse this week in the final week of the regular season hosting South Dakota State (16-11, 8-8 Summit) on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The Bison will close the week against South Dakota (16-9, 13-3 Summit) on Saturday. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
TICKETS
General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth ages 3-17, and reserved tickets are $10-12 . Match day tickets are sold at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse and are also available at GoBison.com/tickets. Doors open one (1) hour prior to the match. Free parking is available in Visitors Lot E.
MATCH COVERAGE
The match against South Dakota State will feature live coverage on the ABC network WDAY Xtra. Logan Campbell will be calling the play-by-play with Brianna Pearson as an analyst on Thursday. Both contests will be streamed and feature live statistics on GoBison.com.
SATURDAY IS SENIOR DAY AT THE BBF
NDSU will recognize four seniors on Saturday against South Dakota: Kirstin Tidd, Maggie Steffen, Kaylee Hanger and Alexandria Hicks.
LOOKING BACK
NDSU is 3-2 over its last five matches and most recently blanked North Dakota, 3-0, last weekend. Ali Hinze contributed a match-best 15 kills, while Kirstin Tidd also reached double figures with 10 kills and no errors.
REILLY STEPPING UP
Raegen Reilly has settled in during her freshman season. She's currently positioned sixth in the Summit League and leads all freshman with 712 total assists this season. Last week, Reilly notched her seventh double-double of the season with 37 assists and season-high 17 digs in the win at North Dakota.
HANGER HITS 100
Kaylee Hanger continues to add milestones to her career this season. Following the win over St. Thomas on Oct. 28 , she appeared in her 100th career match. She's totaled 1,063 digs over four seasons, which ranks tied for 20th on the NDSU all-time list.
WHAT CAN'T HINZE DO?
Ali Hinze has already connected on a career-high 340 kills this season. She has also made an impact on the defensive end of the floor totaling a career-best 268 digs, which ranks third on the team. Hinze has notched a team-high 13 double-doubles this season.
SERVIN' UP SOME ACES
NDSU ranks second in the Summit League in total aces and 51st in the nation with 165 this season. Ava Schmoll has delivered a team-best 28 service aces, which ranks 11th in the Summit League
A DYNAMIC DUO
Ali Hinze and Syra Tanchin have emerged as two of the top offensive players in the Summit League this season and have both surpassed the 300-kill mark. Tanchin has connected on a career-high 340 kills, which ranks tied for fifth in the Summit League. Hinze is also slotted tied for fifth place with 340 kills. NDSU is the only team in the Summit League with two players positioned inside the top five in total kills.
OFFENSIVE POWER
The Bison are positioned fourth in the Summit League in total kills with 1,267. NDSU has connected on 60 or more kills in five matches this season, including matching a season-high 70 kills in the win over Western Illinois.
THE SERIES VS. SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
This will be the 103rd all-time meeting between the Bison and the Jackrabbits dating back to 1974 with NDSU leading, 81-21. Earlier this season, the Bison fell short on the road against the Jackrabbits, 3-1. Syra Tanchin led the way for NDSU with a match-best 18 kills to go along with a .308 hitting percentage.

This will be the 72nd meeting between NDSU and South Dakota dating back to 1978 with the Bison leading the all-time series, 50-21. Earlier this season, the Bison dropped a 3-0 decision to the Coyotes. Ali Hinze paced NDSU with team-high 10 kills, while Raegen Reilly added in a team-best 24 assists.

The 2021 Summit League Volleyball Championship will take place November 25-27 at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center in Vermillion, S.D. The top six teams at theconclusion of the regular season advance to the championship.
