Western Kentucky Rallies to Beat NDSU Baseball in Season Opener

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The North Dakota State baseball team scored four runs in the first three innings, but gave up seven late runs in a 10-4 loss to Western Kentucky in the season opener for both schools Sunday night.
The first two games of the series were postponed and Sunday's game was delayed two hours for the field to clear of snow. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Monday, scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
Brock Anderson and Bennett Hostetler each had two hits for the Bison, while Tucker Rohde, Calen Schwabe and Nick Emanuel each had one. Hostetler and Rohde each drove in two runs. In his collegiate debut, Cade Feeney struck out three and walked one, while allowing three earned runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings of work. Parker Harm suffered the loss on the mound, giving up three runs (two earned) on two hits in two innings. Harm struck out three and walked one. Jake Drew struck out four, while allowing four unearned runs on three hits in 1.2 innings. Hunter Koep, making his first appearance since 2019, struck out a pair in the eighth inning.
The Bison started the scoring in the first inning, as Hostetler doubled down the left field line to bring in Anderson. Rohde then hit a sacrifice fly to plate Peter Brookshaw. In the third inning, Hostetler tripled to bring in Anderson before scoring on a single by Rhode. The Hilltoppers scored two runs in the fourth to cut the lead to one before adding three runs in the sixth and four in the seventh.
