NDSU Men's Golf Opens Spring Season at The Joust

JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. – The North Dakota State's men golf team resumed its 2020-21 schedule on the opening day of The Joust at Goose Creek Golf Club hosted by California Baptist. Some pairings did not finish the second round due to a suspension caused by darkness.
NDSU sits in 14th place as a team after shooting a 313 in the first round. NDSU had 20 birdies and 69 pars on the day. Loyola Marymount University currently leads after shooting a 300 in the first round, led by Gavin Cohen, who shot even through one round.
The Bison are led by freshman Jack Johnson, who finished the first day tied for 38th. Johnson finished the first round with a 79, while having a hole remaining in the second round. Sophomore Nate Deziel shot a 76 in the first round and a 79 in the second round. Deziel, who is tied for 51st, recorded seven birdies in the first two rounds.
Junior Lucas Johnson shot a 78 in the first round. He is tied for 58th place with a hole to go in the second round. Freshman Nate Adams finished the first round with an 81, tied for 69th place. Adams has two holes left in the second round. Freshman Brock Winter rounded out the scoring for the Bison, sitting in 83rd after an opening round 86. Winter has a hole remaining in the second round.
Sophomore Jed Baranczyk and freshman Gavin Cronkite entered the tournament as individuals. Cronkhite shot a 73 in the first round and has a hole remaining in the second round, as he's tied for 28th. Baranczyk shot a 76 in the first round and an 82 in the second round, as he's tied for 69th.
The Bison will resume second and third round action Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. at Goose Creek Golf Club.
