ELKHORN, Neb. – For the second-straight tournament, the North Dakota State men's golf team is taking home the title. NDSU shot a 293 in the final round Tuesday, as the Bison won the team title at Stampede at the Creek at the Indian Creek Golf Club.
The Bison shot an 892 for the three rounds, finishing six strokes ahead of runner-up South Dakota State. Green Bay's Max Pasher won the individual title, shooting a 217.
Sophomores
Jed Baranczyk and
Nate Deziel finished in a tie for eighth with a 223. Baranczyk tied a season-low with a 71 in the final round and recorded three birdies, accompanied by his three-round total of seven birdies. Deziel shot a 75 in the final round and had a birdie. Freshman
Brock Winter shot a 73 in the final round, as he finished in a tie for 11
th with a 224. Winter had a three-round total of ten birdies, leading the way for the Bison.
Freshman
Nate Adams finished in a tie for 15
th with a 226. Adams shot a 74 in the final round and had a birdie in the final round. Freshman
Jack Johnson shot a 77 in the final round, as he finished in a tie for 20
th with a 229. Johnson recorded three birdies in the final round. Junior
Lucas Johnson rounded out the scoring for the Bison, shooting a 230 to finish in a tie for 23rd. Johnson shot a 76 in the final round.
Freshman Gavin Cronkite, who competed as an individual, finished in a tie for 26
th with a 232. Cronkhite shot a 76 in the final round.
NDSU had 40 birdies for the tournament, the second most in the field. The Bison were three-under par on par five holes to lead the tournament, while also finishing with a tournament best 198 pars.
The Bison return to action in Newton, Kan. at the Summit League Championship on May 1-3.
