Bison Men Second After Opening Day of Summit League Championships

2021 Summit League Championships - Day 1

NEWTON, Kan. – The North Dakota State men's golf team opened play Saturday at the Summit League Championship Saturday, sitting just a stroke out of first place after the opening day. NDSU shot a 294 in the opening round and is tied with Denver for second place.

NDSU is one stroke back of Oral Roberts, who has the team lead with a 293. Oral Roberts' Jackson Howes and Omaha's Mathew Halvorson are tied for the individual lead, after they each shot a three-under 69 in the opening round.

Freshman Brock Winter led the Bison in the opening round, as he is in fourth with a 71. Winter had five birdies, including three on the back nine. Freshman Nate Adams is tied for fifth with a 72. Adams recorded five birdies in the opening round. Junior Nate Deziel is tied for 10^th with a 74. Deziel recorded an eagle on the 16^th hole and had three birdies in the opening round.

Freshman Jack Johnson shot a 77, as he is tied for 22^nd. Junior Lucas Johnson is tied for 40^th with an 83. Johnson recorded his birdie on the 12^th hole.

NDSU will tee-off for the second round at 9:40 a.m. on Sunday at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan.
