KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – North Dakota State senior
Alex Talley registered a season-best in the hammer throw and moved into the NCAA's Top 20, highlighting the efforts of the Bison men's track & field team on the opening day of the Tennessee Relays.

Talley threw a season-best 216-10 (66.11m) in the hammer, ranking 18th in the NCAA this season. He placed second in the meet by only three centimeters, and four of his six attempts Thursday went over 215 feet.

Trevor Otterdahl posted the second-best hammer mark of his career, throwing 204-6 (62.33m) for fifth place. Talley and Otterdahl rank third and seventh, respectively, on the NDSU all-time list.

Tony Ukkelberg is the top Bison in the Tennessee Relays decathlon after Day 1, scoring 3,695 points to stand in seventh place. NDSU's
Eric VanErp has 3,430 points for 11th in the decathlon standings.

The Tennessee Relays will continue Friday and Saturday.
