North Dakota State's Akealy Moton, Maddy Nilles, Kari Wolfe and Shelby Gunnells will represent the Bison women's track & field team at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on June 10 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
All five Bison women's entries will compete on Thursday in Eugene, with live video on ESPN3 for the field events. For the second straight outdoor national meet, Moton will compete in a pair of events, throwing the shot put and javelin concurrently on Thursday night.

Competition Format
Twenty-four women qualified to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in each event through the NCAA Preliminary Rounds format. In every throwing event, each athlete will receive three preliminary attempts. The top nine performers will advance to the final round, earning three additional attempts.
All-America Honors
The top eight finishers in all events will earn first team All-American honors, places 9 through 16 will be named second team All-Americans, and all other national meet competitors will receive honorable mention status.
Top Placer
Laura Hermanson is the highest women's national-meet finisher in NDSU's Division I history, taking second place in the 800 meters at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
17 in 12 Years
The NDSU women have 17 top-eight finishes at the NCAA Division I Championships (indoor and outdoor combined) since becoming eligible in 2009.
Throwing Events Regulars
NDSU has sent a women's qualifier to the NCAA Championships in the hammer throw for four straight seasons – Katelyn Weimerskirch in 2017, Maddy Nilles in 2018, Bailey Retzlaff in 2019, and Nilles again in 2021.
The Bison have had a representative in the women's javelin at the national meet for five of the past six seasons – Sierra Rosenau in 2015, Alyssa Olin in 2017 and 2018, Akealy Moton in 2019, and Moton and Wolfe this year.
Kept the Streak Alive
The Bison women have advanced qualifiers to the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the eighth consecutive national meet. NDSU has sent multiple qualifiers to six of the past seven NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Nation's Best Throws Squad
The Bison were ranked No. 1 in the USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings in the shot put and hammer this season. Six Bison women surpassed 50 feet in the shot put this season – no other program had more than three – and NDSU swept the top six places at the Summit League meet in the event. In all, the Bison women totaled 104 team points in the throws at the conference meet.
27 in a Row
The Bison women have captured 27 consecutive Summit League team titles – 14 indoor and 13 outdoor. NDSU has won every conference title since joining the league prior to the 2008 season.
