NDSU Baseball Announces 2023 Schedule

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State baseball head coach Tyler Oakes has announced the 2023 schedule.

The schedule features 13 home games at Newman Outdoor Field and six opponents that participated in the NCAA Tournament last season, including San Diego, Arizona, Texas State, Texas, Texas Tech and Oral Roberts. The Bison will play 52 regular season games across eight states against opponents from nine different conferences.

NDSU, who won its first Summit League regular season championship and posted a 31-19 overall record last season, will open the season at Sacramento State on Feb. 17-19, before traveling to San Diego, Calif., to play against San Diego State, UC San Diego and San Diego in the Tony Gwynn Classic on Feb. 24-26. The Bison conclude their California trip at UC-San Diego on Feb. 27.

NDSU will square off with Arizona State for the first time in program history on March 1 in Tempe, Ariz. The Bison wrap the trip with a three-game series at Arizona on March 3-5. The Wildcats posted a 39-25 record last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Regional Final against Ole Miss. It will mark the first meeting between NDSU and Arizona since 2018. The Bison have faced the Wildcats 11 times in program history and upended then-ranked No. 5 Arizona, 8-2, in 2012.

The Bison will open up an eight-game road trip in the state of Texas beginning with three games against Texas State on March 10-12. The Bobcats posted a 47-14 record last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Regional Final against Stanford. NDSU then plays two games at Texas on March 14-15. The Longhorns, who have advanced to the College World Series each of the last two seasons, notched a 47-22 record last season. It will mark the first all-time meeting between NDSU and Texas. The Bison conclude the trip with three games at Houston Christian on March 17-19.

NDSU opens Summit League play at Omaha on March 25-26, before a midweek encounter at Nebraska on March 28. Following a three-game series at South Dakota State on March 31-April 2, NDSU will travel to Texas Tech for the first time in program history on April 6-8. The Red Raiders posted a 39-22 record last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Regional Final against Notre Dame.

NDSU will travel to Minnesota on April 11 after the Bison topped the Gophers in their only meeting last season, 5-2, at U.S. Bank Stadium. NDSU will stay in the Twin Cities and resume Summit League play at St. Thomas on April 14-16. The Bison open their home schedule with four games starting with Mayville State on April 18 and Oral Roberts, who won the Summit League Tournament last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, on April 21-23.

NDSU travels back to Minnesota for a midweek matchup on April 25 and then returns home against Western Illinois on April 28-30. The Bison begin the month of May at Nebraska on May 3 and then travel to Northern Colorado on May 5-7. NDSU concludes regular season action hosting Omaha on May 12-14 and South Dakota State on May 18-20.

The Bison will also host the Summit League Baseball Championship at Newman Outdoor Field on May 24-27 for the first time in program history. It will mark the first time NDSU has hosted a postseason baseball event since the 2000 North Central Conference (NCC) tournament.
