AMES, Iowa -
Alissa Melvin's personal record in the triple jump highlighted action for the North Dakota State women's track and field team Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Iowa State Classic.
Melvin, a junior from Waterloo, Ontario, placed third overall with a mark of 39 feet, 3.25 inches (11.97m), which beat the top mark in The Summit League this year held by NDSU teammate
Jodi Lipp.
The Bison took four of the top 10 spots in the women's triple jump with Lipp placing fourth at 38-9 (11.81m),
Grace Emineth fifth at 38-4.75 (11.70m) and
Makenna Vollmer ninth at 35-8.50 (10.88m).
NDSUÂ won three heats in the 400-meter dash with
Nell Graham placing fourth overall with a time of 55.43 seconds to improve her No. 2 ranking in The Summit League.
Kaci Cooper was seventh with a 57.03 and
Claire Howell was 10th with a 57.37.
Kelby Anderson and
Kaleesa Houston also won their heats in the mile run. Anderson placed eighth among all collegians and was 11th overall with a time of 4 minutes, 49.85 seconds, while Houston placed 23rd overall with a time of 5:02.45.
Grace Link was 20th with a 4:57.20.
Other top placefinishers for NDSU includedÂ
Christie Collins in the 60-meter dash with a sixth-place time of 7.83 seconds and
Amanda Anderson in the shot put with a second-place mark of 50 feet, 4.75 inches (15.36m).
North Dakota State's 4x400-meter relay team of Graham, Howell,
Grace Brenner and Cooper won their heat with a time of 3:47.91 and placed third overall behind Iowa State and Kansas State.
In other action, North Dakota State earned four top-10 finishes at the SDSU Indoor Classic in Brookings, S.D.
Jessica Brueggeman, a freshman from Elroy, Wis., placed seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 35 feet, 8.5 inches (10.88m) and was 10th in the long jump with a 16-10 (5.13m).
Aaliyah Heine, a freshman from St. Michael, Minn., finished fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.75 seconds and also ran a 26.22 in the 200-meter dash for 16th place.
Sophomore
Bailee Dierks from Hudson, Wis., ran the 60-meter hurdles in 9.07 seconds to place eighth.
North Dakota State is scheduled to compete in the UND Tune-Up on Saturday, Feb. 19, in Grand Forks, N.D. It will be the final meet before the Summit League Championships at UND on Feb. 25-26.
