Drew and Roehrich Named to 2022 NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List

DALLAS – Senior right-handed pitcher Jake Drew and junior right-handed pitcher Tristen Roehrich have been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List, announced by the association on Wednesday.

Drew has made 13 appearances on the mound this season with a 2-0 overall record. He boasts a 0.00 ERA over 14.2 innings pitched. The Alexandria, Minn., native has notched a career-high six saves this season, which is tied for ninth on the NDSU all-time single-season list. Drew also hasn't allowed a hit in his last five appearances on the mound.

Roehrich has made 11 appearances this season with a 4-1 overall record. He has registered a 2.19 ERA over 37.0 innings. The West Fargo, N.D., native has fired 41 total strikeouts and has limited opponents to .207 batting average. Roehrich, who was named Summit League Pitcher of the Week on March 21, has also contributed a career-high five saves this season.

There are 20 conferences represented on the list with the Southeastern Conference leading the way with seven relief pitchers. NDSU is also one of only four schools in the nation with multiple players selected joining Michigan, Arizona and UCLA.

The NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award is given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball. Finalists will be announced on Wednesday, June 8 with the winner being named on Friday, June 17 at the 2022 College World Series. Relievers who are not on the midseason list still have an opportunity to be named a finalist for the award.
