Bison Edge Bears in Extra Inning Thriller, 13-12

FARGO, N.D. – Cadyn Schwabe connected on an RBI single into left field to lift the North Dakota State baseball team past Northern Colorado in 11 innings, 13-12, on Saturday afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field.

Northern Colorado (12-34, 8-15 Summit) spent the first five innings of the contest building a six-run advantage, 9-3, after Caden Wagner delivered a double into left field. The Bison (27-16, 14-4 Summit) then tacked on two runs in fifth and sixth innings to cut the deficit down two, 9-7, following a double off the bat of Cadyn Schwabe.

Peter Brookshaw kept the momentum rolling locking the contest, 11-11, in the seventh after he sent a three RBI home run to right field. Lincoln Turner responded for the Bears in the eighth inning with an RBI double to right center to regain the edge, 12-11. NDSU was able to lock the contest late in the ninth frame after Terrell Huggins scored the game tying run following an error at second base. Following a scoreless 10th frame, Cadyn Schwabe blasted a single into left field to send Jack Simonsen across to seal the 13-12 win.

NDSU totaled a season-high 21 hits as a team with seven different players notching two or more. It marked the most hits in a single game since 2015. Druw Sackett went 4-of-6 at the plate with one RBI and two runs.

Jake Drew (3-0) earned the win and tossed two strikeouts with no walks over 3.1 innings. Cade Feeney got the start and posted three strikeouts over 2.1 innings.

NDSU will wrap up its series against Northern Colorado tomorrow. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. at Newman Outdoor Field.
