No. 5 Hurricanes Edge Bison in Series Finale, 6-4

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The North Dakota State baseball team dropped a 6-4 decision in the series finale at No. 5 Miami on Sunday afternoon at Mark Light Field.
Miami (35-12) snatched a 1-0 lead in the opening frame after Yohandy Morales connected on a home run to center field. The game then went scoreless for two innings until Jack Simonsen responded for NDSU (25-16) with a two RBI home run of his own to center field to make the score 2-1.
Following a scoreless fifth frame, Miami scored two runs on two hits in the sixth to regain the lead, 3-2, after Morales scored an unearned run. Druw Sackett responded for the Bison launching a two RBI home run into left field to grab a 4-3 edge in the seventh. Morales once again answered for the Hurricanes in the bottom half of the seventh with a three RBI home run into left field to make the score 6-4. The Bison couldn't get anything going the rest of the way and dropped the series finale, 6-4.
The Bison tallied 10 hits as a team with eight different players notching at least one. Sackett paced NDSU going 2-of-5 at the plate, including one double and one home run to go along with two RBI and one run.
Evan Sankey made his 11th start of the season and fired a game-high five strikeouts with no walks over 5.0 innings. Tristen Roehrich (4-2) picked up the loss and tossed two strikeouts over 2.0 innings. Jake Drew finished the final frame on the hill and recorded one strikeout.
NDSU will be back in action on Friday hosting Northern Colorado. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Newman Outdoor Field.
