Men’s Golf Finishes Fourth at Bill Cullum Invitational

SOMIS, Calif. – The North Dakota State men's golf team wrapped up the Bill Cullum Invitational on Tuesday, finishing tied for fourth place in the 14-team tournament at The Saticoy Club.
The Bison shot rounds of 293, 292, and 299, finishing at +20. NDSU finish tied with Sacramento State, 14 shots back from winner, Cal State Fullerton (291-297-282—870).
Jack Johnson (70-73-71—214) led the Bison again in the final round, finishing tied for third place overall at -2 in the 54-hole event. Johnson carded a -1 in the final round and finished one shot back of the co-medalists. The Chaska, Minn. native had three birdies and an eagle in the final round.
Josh Galvin (72-75-75—222) moved up two spots on the final day to finish tied for 17th place. Galvin shot back-to-back rounds of 75 to close out his tournament and finished at +6 for the event. He had two birdies in the final round and finished with five birdies in the tournament.
Jake Skarperud (75-81-75—231) shot a 75 on the final day to move up eight spots and finish in a tie for 55th overall at +15 in the 84-golfer field. Gavin Cronkhite (76-70-78—224) rounded out the scoring for the Bison on the final day and finished tied for 27th place at +8.
Nate Adams (76-74-79—229) and Rylin Petry (76-76-77—229), who competed as an individual, wrapped up the event for NDSU, finishing in a tie for 44th overall at +13.
The Bison will be back in action in two weeks at the Monterrey Invitational in Monterrey, Mexico. The event, which is hosted by George Washington University, will be held on Oct. 27-28 at the Club Campestre.
