NDSU Volleyball Falls to South Dakota

VERMILLION, SD. – The North Dakota State volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at South Dakota on Saturday afternoon at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
Ali Hinze paced the Bison (17-9, 9-6 Summit) posting nine kills with four digs, while Alexis Boling added in seven kills. Kelley Johnson posted a team-high 20 assists with six digs and Taylor Quan contributed a team-best 12 digs on the defensive side.
South Dakota (17-9, 11-4 Summit) ran out to a 18-11 lead following a ball handling error in the first set. The Bison fought back trimming the deficit down to 19-14 after a block from Ally Barth and Lauren Jansen. However, the Coyotes went on to close out the set, 25-16.
Both teams worked through the second frame that featured a match-high five tie scores and three lead changes. The Coyotes slowly opened up a 22-17 advantage following a block from Avery Van Hook and Brynn Paumen. The Bison made one final surge with a 3-1 run to cut the edge to three, 23-20, after an attack error. South Dakota closed the set with back-to-back points to win the frame, 25-20.
The Coyotes then began to put the match way in the third set sprinting out to a 17-5 lead. NDSU wasn't able to cut the deficit down any further and dropped the frame, 25-9, and the set, 3-0.
NDSU will conclude regular season action at North Dakota on Tuesday. The first serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
