PHOENIX – The North Dakota State women's golf team posted its third-lowest 54-hole total in program history to finish tied for fifth place at the Grand Canyon Invitational at GCU Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bison assembled rounds of 301, 291 and 287 for a three-round total of 879 to move up one spot on the leaderboard to finish in a three-way tie for fifth place with Seattle (289-293-297--879) and UTEP (304-290-285--879) in the 17-team tournament. NDSU's final round score of 287 marked the fourth-lowest 18-hole total in program history. ULM won the tournament finishing -19 with rounds of 284, 283 and 278 for a final score of 845.
Madi Hicks (76-71-71--218) moved up seven spots on the leaderboard to finish tied for 17th place with a season-low 218.
Leah Skaar (74-73-72--219) also cracked the top 20 finishing tied for 19th place, while
Elise Hoven (74-75-71--220) notched a career-best 54-hole total of 220 to finish tied for 26th place.
Jo Baranczyk (77-72-76--225) tied a career-low 225 to come in tied for 46th place.
Catherine Monty (79- 76-73--228) closed out the group tied for 58th place.
Cora Larson (74-75-72--221), who competed as an individual, notched a season-low 221 to finish tied for 32nd place.
The average score over three rounds of play was 75.19.
NDSU will be back in action at the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational on March 9-11 in St. George Utah.
