ST. PAUL, Minn. – The North Dakota State baseball team dropped a 2-1 decision at St. Thomas in the series finale on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Koch Diamond.
The Bison, who won the first two games of the series, drop to 10-24 (6-3 Summit) overall, while St. Thomas improves to 5-20 (3-6 Summit) on the season.
The Tommies grabbed the early lead after Ben Vujovich sent an RBI double down the right field line to make the score 1-0 in the second inning. The contest then went scoreless for six innings before
Jack Steil came up with a clutch RBI single in the ninth to score
James Dunlap to lock the score, 1-1. However, St. Thomas answered in the bottom half after Sam Kulesa dropped an RBI single into center field to secure the walk-off win, 2-1.
Parker Puetz made the start on the mound going 6.0 innings with one walk and two strikeouts.
Skyler Riedinger (0-3) finished out the final 2.1 innings with one strikeout.
The Bison notched four hits as a team. Steil paced NDSU with one hit and one RBI.
NDSU will be back in action against Mayville State on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
