Bison Football Adds Four Players

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University football program announced four additions to 2024 recruiting class Wednesday, Feb. 7, the first day of the regular signing period for Division I football.
 
Two midyear transfers have already enrolled at NDSU and will be with the Bison for spring practice. They are offensive lineman Trent Fraley from Marshall and quarterback Jacob Kilzer from Air Force Prep.
 
Two high school student-athletes joining the Bison are defensive tackle Jack Hansen of Eagan, Minn., and offensive lineman Gage Schmidt from North Mankato, Minn.
 
North Dakota State has now added 24 players for the 2024 season, including 20 who signed during December's early signing period.
 
Here is a closer look at the four newcomers:
 
Trent Fraley, OL, 6-2, 300, So., Moon Township, Pa. (Moon Area HS/Marshall)
BEFORE NDSU: Spent two football seasons at Marshall University...Played in one game against Norfolk State as a true freshman in 2022...Appeared in three games on special teams during his redshirt freshman year in 2023, including the Frisco Bowl...HIGH SCHOOL: 2022 graduate of Moon Area High School...Three-year starter...Team captain his senior year...First team all-conference as an offensive tackle in 2020 and offensive guard in 2021...First team all-state offensive lineman his senior year...Also played defensive tackle...Helped his team win two section championships...PERSONAL: Parents are Christy and Donald Desselle and Hank and Danielle Fraley...Family includes four brothers and one sister...His father, Hank Fraley, played 11 seasons in the NFL for the Eagles, Browns and Rams from 2000 to 2010 and is the offensive line coach for the Detroit Lions.
 
Jacob Kilzer, QB, 6-3, 195, Fr., Maple Grove, Minn. (Maple Grove HS/Air Force Prep)
BEFORE NDSU: Attended Air Force Prep during the 2023 football season...HIGH SCHOOL: 2023 graduate of Maple Grove High School...Three-year starter for coach Matt Lombardi...Led the Crimson to a 26-2 record including a 13-0 record and Class 6A state championship in 2022...MaxPreps Minnesota Player of the Year...Minnesota Vikings all-state honoree...AP all-state first team...Selected to the Minnesota high school all-star game...Passed for 1,352 yards and 13 touchdowns while rushing for 1,273 yards and 20 TDs...Finished his career with more than 5,200 yards of total offense and 66 touchdowns...Passed for 30 touchdowns with only four interceptions in three seasons...Also lettered in baseball as a center fielder...PERSONAL: Plans to major in civil engineering...Son of Jon and Joni Kilzer...Both parents attended NDSU...Has a brother, Jackson.
 
Jack Hansen, DT, 6-4, 255, Fr., Eagan, Minn. (Eagan HS)
HIGH SCHOOL: 2024 graduate of Eagan High School...Three-year starter...Played defensive line, offensive line, tight end and kicker for coach Nick Johnson...Team captain his senior year...Three-time all-conference...Had 22 tackles for loss including 10 sacks in his career...Made 20 tackles with seven TFLs and four sacks his senior year...2023 district lineman of the year...Helped Eagan to its first playoff win in eight years...Selected to the Minnesota high school all-star game...Also competed in basketball, track and soccer...PERSONAL: Intends to major in finance and minor in economics...Son of Nathan and Melissa...Both parents attended NDSU...Has a sister, Macy.
 
Gage Schmidt, OL, 6-3, 285, Fr., North Mankato, Minn. (Mankato West HS)
HIGH SCHOOL: 2024 graduate of Mankato West High School...Three-year starter for coach JJ Helget...Played offensive and defensive line...Two-time all-district...Two-time district lineman of the year...Part of a Class 5A state championship team that went 13-0 his sophomore year...Team was 12-1 and state runner-up as a junior...Captain of the football, hockey and lacrosse teams...Three-time all-conference in hockey and lacrosse...Two-time state participant in DECA...PERSONAL: Plans to major in business...Son of Matt and Gena Schmidt...Father was a college wrestler...Mother was a college basketball player...Has a brother, Grady, and sister, Gabby.
