NDSU Baseball Bounces Back with 8-5 Win at Oral Roberts

TULSA, Okla. – The North Dakota State baseball team bounced back with an 8-5 win at Oral Roberts on Saturday afternoon at J.L. Johnson Stadium to tie the three-game series.
The Bison (6-16, 3-2 Summit) built a 5-0 advantage in the third inning with RBI singles from Sam Canton, Kyle Law and Jake Schaffner. After Kyle Booker got Oral Roberts (9-13, 1-4 Summit) on the board in the third with an RBI single, the Bison extended their lead to 8-1 in the sixth. Schaffner got the inning started scoring on a hit by pitch with the bases loaded before Canton lifted an RBI sacrifice fly. Will Busch tacked on an RBI to close the frame after a walk with the bases loaded.
Oral Roberts pushed back in the eighth plating four runs on four hits to cut the edge to 8-5 after Cameron LaLiberte sent a two RBI double down the left line. Joey Danielson finished the out the final 1.1 frames on the mound to help secure the 8-5 victory.
Schaffner led the way for NDSU going 3-of-4 at the plate with two runs and one RBI. Canton also went 3-of-4 at the plate with two RBI and one run. The Bison totaled 10 hits as a team with five different players notching at least one.
Logan Knight (1-2) earned his first win in the start going a season-high 7.0 innings and tying a season-best seven strikeouts. He allowed only one run with two walks and five hits.
NDSU will conclude its series with Oral Roberts tomorrow. First pitch has been moved up to 11:00 a.m., with rain expected in the afternoon.
