FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State baseball team battled through four scoreless innings and heavy rain to finish in a 2-2 tie in the eighth inning in the series finale against Omaha on Sunday afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field.
Omaha (14-24-1, 12-8-1 Summit) got the scoring started in the fifth after Matt Goetzmann delivered an RBI single to make the score 1-0.
Garret Hill responded for NDSU (13-24-1, 9-8-1 Summit) with a two-run double in the sixth as rain began to fall. Tyler Bishop responded one more time for Omaha to tie the contest, 2-2, in the seventh with an RBI single. Both teams left a runner stranded in the eighth inning before the contest was called a 2-2 tie due to rain.
Landon Koenig made the start going 4.2 innings with four strikeouts, while
Joey Danielson closed out the final three frames with one strikeout on the hill.
NDSU will be back in action at Iowa on Wednesday night. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.
